23. Recent discoveries and advances in the palaeontology of China

Research teams of Chinese and international workers have recently focused on a number of exceptionally preserved fossil biota and critical biotic events that are preserved throughout China. This symposium will showcase recent research on: the late Neoproterozoic Weng'an and coeval biota with microscopic animals, embryos and algae; the early Cambrian Chengjiang biota with abundant and diverse soft tissue preservation; the Early Cretaceous Jehol biota with feathered dinosaurs etc; the pre-Cambrian and Cambrian transition; the Great Ordovician radiation; the Frasnian-Famennian event; the P-T extinction and recovery. Systematic, palaeobiological, palaeoceocological, palaeogeographical and biostratigraphical studies will also be included.
