This symposium will take a cross disciplinary look at the origin of terrestrial ecosystems and the consequences for earth systems. Contributions will provide an up to date and comprehensive review of early microbial, plant, fungi, and animal terrestrial life set within a phylogenetic context. Speakers will be asked to consider how the early evolution of the various taxonomic groups impacted on major earth systems.
